Abstract

The Population Census in Indonesia is mandated by Law No. 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics, which is carried out every ten years in the year ending in zero (0). The 2020 Population Census (SP2020) is the seventh census. The six previous censuses conducted in 1961, 1971, 1980, 1990, 2000, and 2010 still used traditional methods. For the first time in the history of the population census in Indonesia, the implementation of SP2020 uses a combination method, namely by using population administration data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration, Ministry of Home Affairs as the database for the implementation of SP2020. This is designed and implemented as an effort to realize "ONE INDONESIAN POPULATION DATA". Thus, SP2020 aims to provide data on the number, composition, distribution and characteristics of the Indonesian population.

SP2020 recorded that the population of Jawa Tengah in September 2020 was 36.52 million. Compared to the results of the previous census, the population of Jawa Tengah has continued to increase. In a period of ten years, from 2010 to 2020, the population of Jawa Tengah has increased by about 4.1 million people or an average of 400 thousand every year.
